Guwahati, August 01, 2023: A horrifying incident unfolded in Kokrajhar district on Sunday night, as an Assam Home Guard was allegedly stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants. The victim, identified as Basudev Kisku, hailed from Gurubhasha Ravanghat village in Chirang district.

Basudev Kisku was on duty at the Bengtal police station in Chirang when the tragic incident occurred. According to reports, he received a phone call while visiting his home on Sunday, asking him to meet at the Dablegaon area of Amguri in Kokrajhar.

Subsequently, several hours later, Basudev’s lifeless body was discovered on the roadside, bearing multiple injury marks.

Upon receiving information, the police rushed to the scene and sent the body for post-mortem examination. A comprehensive investigation is underway to apprehend the culprits responsible for this alleged murder.

The family members of the deceased have asserted that the incident appears to be a planned murder, adding a sense of anguish and fear in the local community.

Meanwhile, the All Adivasi Students’ Association has demanded swift action from the authorities, urging them to arrest the perpetrators within 24 hours. They have warned of staging a democratic protest if their demands for justice remain unmet. The call for justice resonates across the region, seeking to bring the culprits to account and ensure a safer environment for all.
