The Assam Jal Jeevan Mission has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Abhijit Mukherjee Research Group (AMRG) of IIT Kharagpur to undertake a comprehensive study on groundwater quality and sustainability across the state.

The MoU was signed at Janata Bhawan, Dispur, marking a collaborative effort to enhance the safety and sustainability of groundwater resources. The partnership will focus on key areas including hydrological and geochemical assessment of aquifers, aquifer mapping using existing lithologs, water quality analysis to ensure safe drinking standards, and policy recommendations for long-term groundwater management.

This initiative is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening the delivery of safe and sustainable groundwater-sourced drinking water to the people of Assam.
