A cultural troupe from Karbi Anglong, led by the Art and Culture Department of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) under the banner of the Karbi Traditional Music and Cultural Research Institute (KTMCRI), is set to showcase the vibrant heritage of the Karbi people at the 15th Cultural Olympiad of Performing Arts (COPA) in Pattaya, Thailand, from October 24 to 29, 2025.
Organized by the Akhil Bhartiya Shankruti Shan (ABSS) Global Council of Art and Culture, with UNESCO as an official partner, the Olympiad is a prestigious international platform that celebrates cultural diversity from across the globe. For the Karbi community, this participation marks a milestone moment—an opportunity to present its living traditions on the world stage.
The 20-member troupe, including officials, will perform a ten-minute medley of traditional Karbi dances inspired by everyday life and community practices. The presentation will include Rit Nongchingdi (seed sowing dance), Han Up Ahi Kibi (community bamboo shoot collection dance), and Lengpum Sokchon (paddy pounding dance), offering audiences a vivid glimpse into the richness and resilience of Karbi culture.
