Assam Minister Inaugurates Nameri Eco-Camp to Boost Eco-Tourism And Conservation Efforts

Assam Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary on Saturday inaugurated the Nameri Eco-Camp at Hatigate, situated in the heart of Nameri National Park and Tiger Reserve. The eco-tourism initiative aims to integrate adventure, conservation, and local culture while promoting sustainable livelihoods.

The inaugural event was attended by MLA Padma Hazarika, Special Chief Secretary (Environment & Forests) M.K. Yadav (IFS Retd.), Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Vinay Gupta (IFS), and senior officials from the Indian Army and district administration.

Developed under Phase-II of the Assam Project on Forest and Biodiversity Conservation (APFBC), the Eco-Camp is managed by the Eco-Development Committee of Nameri. It offers nature-based experiences such as wildlife safaris, birdwatching, river rafting, and cultural programs, aiming to enhance eco-tourism while supporting local communities.
