Guwahati, Aug 29: In a spirited celebration of National Sports Day, the NCC Group Headquarters, Guwahati, on behalf of the NCC Directorate NER, organised a grand Josh Run at the Arjuna Bhogeshwar Barua Sports Complex. The event was held under the national theme “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Naam”, symbolising the importance of dedicating an hour to fitness and sports in daily life.

The programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 300 NCC cadets, representing both the Senior Division (SD) and Senior Wing (SW). The event commenced with a solemn pledge, where cadets vowed to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship, discipline, and healthy living. The atmosphere came alive as the cadets, dressed in NCC colours, took part in the energetic run within the sports complex, showcasing their unity, vigour, and determination.

Adding to the inspiration of the day, Lawn Bowl national champion, Adinita Kaketi, addressed the gathering with a motivational talk. Drawing from her own experiences as a sportsperson, she urged the cadets to stay committed to physical fitness, pursue excellence in sports, and imbibe qualities of resilience and teamwork. Her words left a strong impression on the young participants, encouraging them to view sports not merely as competition but as a way of building character and leadership.

The event, held to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand, successfully conveyed the significance of sports in nation-building. It also reflected the NCC’s endeavour to channelise youth energy towards constructive pursuits and to instil in them the values of discipline, perseverance, and a healthy lifestyle.

The Josh Run concluded on a high note with cadets expressing their renewed commitment to fitness and sports, making the occasion a fitting tribute to India’s sporting legacy.
