Guwahati, Apr 26: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has approved the renaming of the A5-A18 Kailash Colony Road in New Delhi to “Bodofa Upendranath Brahma Marg” in honour of Bodo leader Upendranath Brahma.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma while expressing his gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah for supporting the proposal wrote in a post on social media, “My sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah ji for taking forward the proposal of naming a road in the heart of Delhi as Bodofa Upendranath Brahma Marg.”
Sarma further added, “@MCD_Delhi has approved the road from A5-A18 Kailash Colony as Bodofa Upendranath Brahma Marg, which will be dedicated shortly to the nation, fulfilling a commitment made to the people of BTR by Adarniya Griha Mantri ji.”
Upendranath Brahma, who led the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), is regarded as a key figure in the Bodoland movement and is revered as the father of the Bodo people.
