The Assam Police have seized more than 4 dozen cattle from Assam’s Nagaon District, in the wee hours of Thursday.
According to reports, the police personnel have recovered 50 livestock in three separate raids conducted across three different places.
Based on specific inputs, the security forces launched a cattle smuggling operation at around 4.45 am on Thursday in Borpeta NLG Brickfield. During the raid, the personnel detained one container truck and seized 23 cattle.
Taking to Twitter, the official account of Nagaon Police wrote “Acting on source information on 27.10.2022 at around 2 am, SI Pawan Kalita, O/C, Samaguri PS, and staff detained one 12 wheeler truck bearing Reg. No. AS 01 FC 7912 along with a Tata DI vehicle bearing Reg. No. AS 02 E 7302 at Baziagaon.”
“On search of the vehicles, 23 cattle heads were recovered and seized from the two vehicles which were also seized. However, both the drivers of the Truck and DI vehicle managed to flee away on seeing the police. Search is on to nab the culprits involved.” – it further added.

In another operation, the security forces detained one Bolero pick up vehicle bearing Reg. No. AS 02 DC 0166 along with cattle smuggler namely Saiful Islam, for smuggling 4 cattle heads from Dergaon to Samaguri.
