Guwahati, Jun 20: Assam Police on Thursday arrested a man identified as Asif Ahmed in Hojai district for allegedly posting an offensive comment on Lord Krishna on social media.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a statement on his official X handle, said that the state’s crackdown on communal elements is ongoing. He asserted that the government “will not tolerate insults of our deities.”

The Chief Minister also informed that 95 individuals have been arrested so far across the state in connection with anti-national and anti-Hindu activities.
