In a heartfelt gesture to honour the selfless service and sacrifices of its veterans, the Assam Rifles organised a Mega Ex-Servicemen Rally at Silchar, Assam, reaffirming its enduring commitment to the welfare of former soldiers and their families. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of Ex-Servicemen, Veer Naris, widows and dependants, who gathered to reconnect with the force and avail various welfare services.

The rally was inaugurated by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Spear Corps, Lt Gen Abhijit S. Pendharkar, UYSM, AVSM, YSM. Addressing the gathering, the GOC paid rich tributes to the brave veterans for their unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions to nation-building. He acknowledged their sacrifices and reiterated the Government and Assam Rifles’ steadfast commitment towards ensuring the welfare and well-being of the veteran fraternity.

To provide comprehensive support, several service and assistance counters were established during the rally. These included a Grievance Cell, Canteen Stores Department (CSD) facility, Banking Help Counters and Medical Assistance, enabling veterans and their families to resolve their issues and access essential services at one place.

A special medical camp was also organised as part of the rally, where eight medical specialists offered consultation and treatment. The specialists covered key disciplines including ENT, Ophthalmology (Eye), Gynaecology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Oncology (Cancer), ensuring quality healthcare support for the attending veterans and their families.

The rally also served as a meaningful platform for the veterans to reconnect with their comrades, share experiences and strengthen their bond with the force. It allowed participants to voice their concerns, seek assistance and receive guidance on various welfare schemes and benefits available to them.

Through initiatives like these, Assam Rifles continues to reaffirm its deep respect and unwavering commitment towards the welfare of its veterans and their families.
