Assam Rifles Seizes Heroin Worth ₹14 Crore in Joint Operation with Cachar Police

Agartala, February 06, 2026: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam Rifles, in coordination with Cachar Police, recovered a massive consignment of heroin valued at approximately ₹14 crore. The operation was carried out on the night of February 5, 2026, when the narcotics were intercepted while being transported through Lakhipur.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, security forces launched the operation that led to the arrest of one individual from Babupara, Jiribam. Authorities confirmed that 154 soap cases filled with heroin were seized during the raid.

Officials stated that further investigation is underway to trace the wider network behind the consignment. Assam Rifles has consistently been at the forefront of anti-drug operations in the Northeast, conducting regular missions to dismantle trafficking routes and narcotics syndicates.

Security experts described the seizure as a significant milestone in ongoing efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking in the region.
