Diphu, Dec 30: Risim Rongpi of Karbi Anglong has been officially recognised by the Guinness World Records for growing the world’s tallest okra (lady’s finger) plant, becoming the first person from the district to enter the prestigious record book.
According to the certification issued by Guinness World Records, Rongpi’s okra plant exceeded the previous world record held by Jack Reno Sweeney of the United States. The achievement has brought international recognition to Karbi Anglong for an agricultural feat.
The record-breaking plant was grown using traditional farming practices and sustained care. Residents said the achievement reflects the agricultural potential of the region and the dedication of local farmers.
People from different sections of society have congratulated Rongpi, describing the recognition as a matter of pride for Karbi Anglong and Assam. The milestone is also being viewed as an encouragement for farmers and youth to explore innovative and sustainable agricultural practices.
Rongpi’s inclusion in the Guinness World Records marks a significant achievement for the district and highlights Karbi Anglong’s presence on the global stage through agriculture.
