A police officer in Assam’s Sonitpur district has been suspended for alleged lapses in the investigation of a case involving the assault of two journalists. Officials confirmed the action on Friday following complaints about negligence in the enquiry process.

The incident occurred on June 29 in the Dhekiajuli area, where two journalists were reportedly attacked and injured by unidentified miscreants while returning from reporting on alleged illegal mining activities.
