Assam’s young artists showcased their talent at the National Level Kala Utsav 2025, securing the second prize and multiple special awards across various categories.
The boys’ team from Tezpur Government Higher Secondary School in Sonitpur won the second prize in the ‘Instrumental Music Orchestra’ category. Four other teams from the state received special prizes: Lengeri H.S. School (Dibrugarh) in ‘Instrumental Music (Solo)’, Pragjyotika Senior Secondary School (Jorhat) in ‘Theatre (Group)’, PM SHRI C.S. Rawanapar Model H.S. School (Majuli) in ‘Visual Art – 3D’, and Delhi Public School (ONGC-Nazira), Sivasagar, in ‘Vocal Music (Group)’.
The awards were presented during the valedictory session at the Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA) in Pune, following the national competition held from December 20 to 22, 2025.
Organized by the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education, Kala Utsav aims to nurture and showcase artistic talent among school students nationwide. From Assam, 25 students shortlisted by Samagra Shiksha, Assam after the state-level event on November 3 at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati competed in 12 categories, including vocal and instrumental music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and traditional storytelling.
