Three women lost their lives after being run over by a train while crossing railway tracks in Kamrup district on Monday morning, officials said.

The incident took place around 5:25 am between Bamunigaon and Boko stations on the Kamakhya–Goalpara route. Northeast Frontier Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said the victims were hit by Train No. 15643.

The deceased were identified as Rumi Das (55), Korabi Mali (60), and Uttara Das (60).

Railway authorities have appealed to the public to avoid crossing tracks at unauthorised points to prevent such mishaps.
