Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri reviewed the fire control operations being carried out by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) at well RDS147A in Sivasagar district, Assam.

In an official update, the minister informed that the gas flow from the well has continued for the past four days due to extremely high pressure. He stated that residents in the surrounding area were evacuated on the first day and are receiving necessary relief and assistance.

Specialised ONGC teams and high-capacity equipment including fire pumps, frack pumps, and muds have been deployed at the site. Advanced techniques such as “junk pumping” are being used, and ONGC officers remain in constant touch with international experts to manage the situation effectively.

A continuous water blanket is also being maintained around the well to provide cooling and prevent any outbreak of fire.
