Guwahati, Dec 2: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed railway overbridge at Jamunamukh in Hojai district, a major infrastructure project aimed at enhancing regional connectivity. The 951-metre-long overbridge, with a 7.5-metre-wide motorable road, links Dabaka, Kampur, and Jamunamukh railway stations, and was built at a cost of Rs 83 crore.

During the event, Sarma also virtually inaugurated the Model High School at Balijuri Tea Estate and opened community halls and skill development centres in Kandali, Dhantola, and Sagunbahi tea estates. He laid the foundation stones for new buildings at Barhampur and Jamunamukh Higher Secondary Schools.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister discussed ongoing flood mitigation measures in areas affected by the Kopili river. The water resources department is implementing flood protection projects worth around Rs 80 crore, focusing on embankments in Barhampur and Jamunamukh to provide long-term relief to residents.
Sarma emphasized his government’s welfare initiatives, highlighting schemes such as Orunodoi, Mukhyamantrir Mahila Udyomita Abhiyan, Nijut Moina, and the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Jan Arogya Yojana. He also noted the continued subsidized distribution of essential commodities like pulses, sugar, and salt through ration cards to support vulnerable and middle-class communities.
