A young woman from Assam’s Dima Hasao district, Rosmita Hojai, has been reported missing since June 5 after appearing for a Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) examination in Delhi. Her family has appealed for public assistance in tracing her whereabouts.
Rosmita, a resident of Sontila Hojai village near Haflong, had travelled to Delhi on June 4 to attend the exam. According to her family, she informed her mother after the exam that she was returning home by train. However, there has been no contact since then, and her mobile phone remains switched off.
On June 8, Haflong Police notified the family that two individuals, reportedly last seen with Rosmita after the exam, had approached the Shivpuri Police Station in Uttarakhand, claiming that she was swept away in a river. The family has raised concerns about the circumstances and questioned why the report was filed in Uttarakhand rather than in Delhi, where she was last known to be.
Rosmita’s mother stated that her daughter had completed her engineering studies in Haryana and was currently preparing for the APSC examination in Guwahati. She also expressed suspicion that Rosmita’s last message might have been sent under duress.
Relatives have travelled to Uttarakhand to gather more information. Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has assured the family of full support and assistance in locating Rosmita.
The family has urged anyone with relevant information to contact them at 9957756769.
