Assamese Short Film ‘Muga’ Selected Gor Prism Section at MIFF 2026

The Assamese short film Muga, which highlights Assam’s traditional silk weaving heritage and the lives of artisans in Sualkuchi, has been selected for the Prism Section at the 19th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) 2026.

Earlier, the film won the Best Short Film – Jury Award at the 14th Mumbai Shorts International Film Festival 2025 and received the Best Editor Award at the 9th Chalachitramm National Film Festival in Guwahati. It has also been screened at multiple national platforms, including selection at the 12th Goa Short Film Festival and nomination at the 18th Jaipur International Film Festival.

Directed by Samujjal Kashyap and produced under Trinav Entertainment by Jayanta Kakati and Priyam Das, Muga is set in Sualkuchi and follows the story of a young weaver navigating tradition, poverty, and changing socio-economic realities.
