Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has said that a BJP government is essential to sustain peace and development in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), which has witnessed stability after decades of unrest.

Addressing a public rally at Fatemabad Tea Estate in Salbari constituency, Sonowal said the region has transformed from fear and conflict to growth and harmony under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. He credited the implementation of the Bodo Accord for fostering unity and brotherhood in the area.

Criticising the Congress for neglecting BTR and Assam for decades, Sonowal said previous governments failed to ensure basic development, leaving generations in poverty. In contrast, he said, the BJP has promoted inclusive growth through policies of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.

He emphasised that transparent, accountable, and corruption-free governance is key to a just and self-reliant BTR where every citizen can contribute. Sonowal urged voters to support BJP candidate Chakradhar Das in the upcoming BTR polls, saying the election is crucial for preserving peace and ensuring prosperity for all communities.

Sonowal also highlighted India’s economic progress, noting its rise from the 11th largest economy in 2014 to the 4th largest in 2025, with targets to reach the 3rd position by 2029 and become a developed nation by 2047.
