Guwahati, Nov 18: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Monday launched its ‘National Talent Hunt’ programme in Assam, dedicating the initiative to the state’s celebrated singer and cultural icon, Zubeen Garg.

At the launch, Congress national spokesperson and Assam in-charge of the Talent Hunt, Ragini Nayak, said the programme aims to promote freedom of speech and encourage public participation in democratic processes across India. She stated, “The Assam edition of the Talent Hunt is dedicated to Zubeen Garg, who believed in humanity beyond religion and caste. His thoughts resonate with Rahul Gandhi’s vision of love, inclusivity, and equality.”

Nayak added that following the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’, the Congress is emphasising the Right to Expression, as guaranteed by the Constitution. The Talent Hunt aims to identify individuals capable of voicing public concerns and representing people’s issues within a democratic framework.

Applications for the programme will remain open until December 2. The screening process is scheduled from December 3 to 7, regional-level interviews will be held on December 10–11, and the state-level selection will take place between December 15 and 17.

Senior leaders present at the launch included AICC nodal coordinator for Assam Harshad Sharma, former MP Ram Prasad Sharma, MLA Batin Khandakar, APCC general secretary Bipul Gogoi, and Media Department chairperson and Talent Hunt convenor Bedabrata Bora.
