Several prominent figures, including former ULFA (I) deputy commander Dristi Rajkhowa, a senior advocate, and the former Assam state president of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assam on Thursday.
The induction ceremony was held at the BJP state headquarters in Guwahati, where Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia welcomed the new members. Assam BJP in-charge Harish Dwivedi and organisational general secretary GR Ravindra Raju were also present during the event.
Dristi Rajkhowa, also known as Manoj Rabha, was a senior functionary in the ULFA (I) outfit and was known for his expertise in explosives. He had surrendered to security forces in 2020 and has now taken a political path by joining the BJP.
