Agartala, December 12, 2025: In a significant boost to educational infrastructure, the General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, on Friday laid the foundation stone for the construction of an additional double-storey building with 20 new rooms at Netaji Vidyapith Railway Higher Secondary School, Maligaon.

The new building forms part of a series of development initiatives being undertaken by NFR across its jurisdiction, reaffirming its commitment to providing improved learning environments in railway schools. Alongside the new construction at Netaji Vidyapith, several infrastructure upgrades are in progress, including the establishment of a dedicated laboratory complex, provision of modern furniture, green boards, smart boards and CCTV surveillance, setting up of a digital library and upgradation of computer laboratory facilities.

Additional works being taken up at the school include improvement of teachers’ rooms, upgradation of toilet complexes, installation of RO water units, creation of a music room, construction of covered sheds, enhancement of the auditorium, fencing and development of the circulating area.

Across the NFR zone, a number of completed and ongoing projects are significantly transforming the educational infrastructure of railway schools. Key initiatives currently underway include renovation and development works at Railway Higher Secondary School, Maligaon, along with the creation of a modern playground, upgraded prayer ground, improved boundary wall, vehicle parking facilities, entrance gate and smart classrooms. Construction and repair works at Dimapur Railway High School and renovation of Railway Higher Secondary School, Alipurduar are also progressing steadily.

In recent months, NFR has completed several major projects, including repair and renovation of Railway Girls High School at New Jalpaiguri and comprehensive upgradation of Banimandir Railway Higher Secondary School, Siliguri, covering playground and prayer ground development, boundary wall reconstruction, parking facilities and entrance gate. Renovation works at Railway Higher Secondary School, Lumding, and upgradation of Railway Higher Secondary School, Badarpur have also been successfully completed.

These initiatives reflect NFR’s long-term vision to strengthen academic infrastructure and create modern, student-centric educational spaces. With sustained focus on digital integration and infrastructure development, NFR continues to work towards ensuring safe, well-equipped and conducive learning environments for students across its jurisdiction.
