Guwahati has been recognized as the cleanest capital city in Northeast India in the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2024-25. The city has made significant strides in cleanliness and waste management, earning it this prestigious distinction.

The awards ceremony, held in New Delhi, saw President Droupadi Murmu confer 78 awards across various categories. Assam has made notable progress in cleanliness, with six cities receiving ODF++ certification and all four AMRUT cities achieving Green Flag Plus certification.

The Swachh Survekshan Awards 2024-25 recognized cities across four categories, including Super Swachh League Cities and the top three cleanest cities in five different population categories. Guwahati’s achievement is a testament to the city’s commitment to improving its cleanliness and sanitation standards.
