Guwahati, March 31: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party will secure a decisive victory in the upcoming Assembly elections, citing strong public support across the state.

Speaking in Dibrugarh, Sarma said the party aims to take Assam to greater levels of development and claimed that voters are extending significant support to the BJP. He also stated that young voters, particularly Gen Z, are backing the party.

The Chief Minister noted active participation of women and youth in election rallies and public meetings, describing them as key contributors to the ongoing campaign. He said the current election is seeing strong engagement from these groups.

Sarma has been campaigning in several constituencies, including Dhakuakhana and Lakhimpur, which were closely contested in previous elections. He stated that these seats have seen changes due to government initiatives and referred to contributions by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Polling for all 126 Assembly constituencies in Assam is scheduled to be held in a single phase on April 9, with counting of votes set for May 4. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is seeking a third consecutive term, while the Indian National Congress is contesting to return to power.
