Guwahati, May 30: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi met with Assam Congress leaders on Friday to discuss the party’s strategy ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections in the state.

This was the first meeting between the central leadership and the Assam unit after Gaurav Gogoi took charge as the new state party president.

The discussions were held at the party’s Indira Bhawan headquarters in New Delhi. AICC general secretary K C Venugopal and Assam in-charge Jitendra Singh were also present.
