Guwahati, Nov 21: A man was detained near the India-Bangladesh border in Assam’s Karimganj district on Wednesday and sent back to Bangladesh. The individual, identified as Md. Ayatulla, was apprehended by Assam Police early in the morning in the Sribhumi area, located near the international border.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the incident, commending the prompt action by the police. “In the early hours today, one Rohingya, Md. Ayatulla, was apprehended near the International Border with Bangladesh in Sribhumi district and pushed back across the border by alert @assampolice officials,” Sarma posted on X.
The operation underscores the state’s efforts to strengthen border security and prevent illegal migration.
