Senior officials from Mizoram’s Mamit district and Assam’s Hailakandi district held a meeting on Tuesday to address rising tensions along the interstate border.
The discussion followed reports that Assam forest personnel, accompanied by police, allegedly entered Saikhawthlir village in Mamit district on August 15 and destroyed around 290 rubber plants cultivated by local residents.
Officials from both states highlighted the importance of maintaining peace in the sensitive border area and called for cooperation to prevent further escalation while working toward a resolution of the ongoing dispute.
