Guwahati, March 28: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday expressed confidence that the BJP-led NDA will secure a third consecutive term in Assam, claiming the alliance will win more than 90 seats in the 126-member assembly.

Shah made the assertion while launching his two-day campaign in the state with a roadshow in Guwahati. “The people of Assam are excited to form the BJP and NDA government in the state. We will form the government again with more than 90 seats,” he said.

Highlighting achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Shah said Assam has witnessed major improvements in infrastructure, health, and education. “Extremism, bomb blasts, and firing have stopped. Health infrastructure is being developed here. The state has become the hub of health and education in the entire Northeast,” he noted.

He also pointed to new employment opportunities and modern industries, including semiconductor manufacturing units, being set up in the state.

The roadshow, which covered around 2 km from Arya Vidyapith College playground to Nepali Mandir along AK Azad Road, was attended by state BJP president Dilip Saikia and several party candidates. Shah stood in an open-decked SUV, greeted by enthusiastic crowds and supporters along the route.

During his visit, Shah is scheduled to address multiple rallies and hold meetings with senior BJP leaders.
