A new species of day gecko has been discovered on the banks of the Brahmaputra River in Assam. The species, named Cnemaspis brahmaputra, pays homage to the river that sustains the region’s diverse ecosystem.
This is only the second recorded species of its kind found in Northeast India. The discovery is regarded as a significant addition to the region’s biodiversity and highlights the ecological importance of the Brahmaputra basin.
