The Assam Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is awaiting a response from Singapore authorities regarding their request for details in connection with the death of noted Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, who drowned while swimming in the Southeast Asian nation last month.

CID Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta informed that the department had sought assistance through the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) via the Ministry of Home Affairs. “We have requested crucial information, including CCTV footage, to aid the ongoing investigation,” Gupta said during a press briefing on Saturday.

He added that the CID has issued a second round of summons to several individuals from Assam who were in Singapore at the time of Garg’s death, asking them to appear before investigators to record their statements.
