NTPC Launches Girl Empowerment Mission In Assam

Guwahati, Jul 3: NTPC Bongaigaon launched the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025 on July 1 with a ceremonial inauguration in Kokrajhar district. The event was attended by Masanda Partin, IAS, District Commissioner of Kokrajhar; Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon; and Kasturi Maitra, President of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club.

In its fourth edition at Bongaigaon, the month-long initiative is aimed at the holistic development of rural girls aged 10 to 12. This year, 40 girls from 12 nearby schools have been selected to participate in the programme.

The inaugural ceremony featured a short film on GEM, cultural performances by students of Bal Bhawan and Notre Dame Academy, and inspirational stories from GEM alumni. Students also presented a skit on the importance of educating the girl child.

Running from July 1 to July 30, GEM 2025 will provide structured learning, creative sessions, and activities focused on the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the participants.

Since its inception, the Girl Empowerment Mission has empowered over 12,700 girls across NTPC locations, reinforcing the company’s commitment to gender equality and social development.
