Barpeta, April 3: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that only the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) can address infiltration in Assam and protect the state’s cultural identity.

Speaking at a rally in Barpeta in support of AGP candidate Dipak Kumar Das, Adityanath criticized the Congress party’s rule in Assam, claiming it failed to prevent infiltration, violence, and riots over the decades.

He also accused the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) of supporting infiltrators to gain political advantage and alleged collusion between the Congress and AIUDF to undermine Assam’s traditions. Adityanath stated that the NDA would ensure peace, identify infiltrators for expulsion, and prevent demographic changes through measures against what he referred to as “love jihad” and “land jihad.”

Highlighting the NDA’s heritage and development initiatives in Assam over the past decade, he also commented on the Congress’s withdrawal of its Barpeta candidate’s nomination, describing it as a pre-election move.

The 126-member Assam Assembly elections are scheduled for April 9, with results to be declared on May 4.
