PM Modi To Launch ₹18,000-Crore Projects During Assam Visit On Sept 13-14

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on September 13 and 14 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects valued at nearly ₹18,000 crore, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday.

The visit will begin in Guwahati with Modi attending the birth centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika at the Veterinary College Field, Khanapara. Over 1,200 artists will perform 14 of Hazarika’s iconic songs. During the event, Modi will release a commemorative coin and inaugurate a biography of the music legend, which will be translated into all Indian languages and distributed to 20 lakh households across Assam.

On September 14, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the ₹567-crore Darrang Medical College, Nursing College, and GNM School at Mangaldoi. He will also inaugurate major infrastructure projects, including the ₹1,200-crore Brahmaputra bridge connecting Narengi and Kuruwa and the ₹4,500-crore Guwahati Ring Road.

Later, Modi will visit Numaligarh Refinery to inaugurate India’s first bamboo-based bio refinery, built at a cost of ₹5,000 crore, and lay the foundation stone of a ₹7,000-crore polypropylene unit. The tour will conclude with his departure for Kolkata from Jorhat.

Extensive arrangements are underway across Assam to welcome the Prime Minister.
