Guwahati, Mar 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Kokrajhar in Assam on March 13 to lay the foundation stones for multiple development projects, state minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma said on Sunday.
Speaking to ANI, Brahma said the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a key project and additional initiatives in line with existing agreements. He added that the government has not yet released the complete list of projects.
The visit comes as preparations gather pace for the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections later this year, with the Bharatiya Janata Party intensifying its campaign activities.
On February 28, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the party’s ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ from Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district, seeking public support for the party’s future initiatives. The first phase of the statewide programme, running from February 28 to March 9, aims to highlight development and welfare schemes of the Central and state governments ahead of the polls.
Separately, at the party’s state headquarters in Guwahati, Sarma released three official election songs for the 2026 Assembly campaign. The BJP is seeking a third consecutive term in the state and aims to defeat the Indian National Congress in the forthcoming elections.
