Prime Minister Narendra Modi will experience Assam’s rich tribal and ethnic heritage during a grand roadshow in Guwahati on Saturday, marking the beginning of his two-day visit to the state.
Modi, who arrived in the city in the afternoon, is scheduled to inaugurate projects worth around Rs 15,600 crore. The 3.8 km roadshow will start from Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex in Lakhara on National Highway-27 and conclude at the BJP state headquarters near Basistha Chariali, featuring multicultural performances by hundreds of artistes.
BJP Assam Media Relations Convenor Dhrubajyoti Maral said stages have been set up along the route to showcase dances, songs, and traditional instruments of Assam’s indigenous tribes. Organizers expect over 50,000 people to attend.
Guwahati Police Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) Jayanta Sarathi Borah confirmed that all traffic arrangements are in place for the smooth movement of the PM’s cavalcade. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, state BJP president and Lok Sabha MP Dilip Saikia, and other senior party leaders are expected to accompany Modi.
