Fashion designer Sanjukta Dutta, from Assam presented Indian handloom craftsmanship on the red carpet of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival by dressing three international personalities in culturally inspired designs.
Valeriya Hjertenæs, Mrs. World Congeniality, wore a gown featuring Assamese folklore motifs. Mirka Howard, Ms. Italy Globe Supermodel, appeared in a fusion of European couture and Indian silk. Jasleen Soni, Mrs. NoveCosmo, donned a contemporary drape highlighting cultural elegance.
This marked Dutta’s fifth consecutive year at Cannes. She is known for promoting Indian handloom and Assamese artistry globally, with previous showcases at Lakmé Fashion Week and fashion weeks in New York, Milan, and Paris.
Her Cannes 2025 collection further emphasized Indian handloom’s rising prominence in international fashion.
