Shillong Lajong Football Club has appointed Birendra Thapa as its new head coach for the 2024–25 I-League season, the club announced on Friday.

Thapa, widely known as Coach Biru, has been associated with Shillong Lajong since 2001 in various roles including player, assistant coach, and team manager. He was part of the team that achieved promotion to the I-League for the 2009–10 season.

With nearly 20 years of experience within the club, Thapa’s appointment aims to bring experienced leadership and continuity as Shillong Lajong prepares for the upcoming season.
