Guwahati, June 2: The Supreme Court on Monday declined to entertain a plea challenging the Assam government’s alleged deportation drive targeting suspected foreigners without proper nationality verification or legal procedures.

A bench of Justices Sanjay Karol and Satish Chandra Sharma advised the petitioner, the All BTC Minority Students Union, to move the Gauhati High Court for appropriate relief.

“Why are you not going to the Gauhati High Court?” the bench asked senior advocate Sanjay Hegde, who appeared for the petitioner.
