Singaporean authorities have confirmed that a post-mortem examination of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg’s body will be conducted, expected to conclude by 2 PM SGT. Thereafter, his mortal remains will be handed over to the Indian authorities, who will facilitate the process of bringing him back to Assam.
The singer passed away on Friday after a scuba diving accident in Singapore, where he had gone to participate in the Northeast India Festival.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the state government has convened an urgent cabinet meeting to arrange the return of Zubeen’s mortal remains from Singapore, with plans to bring his body back on an Indian Air Force aircraft. Once his body arrives in Guwahati, it will be kept at Sarusajai, allowing fans and the public to pay their respects .
