Bollywood actor Bhumi Pednekar marked Republic Day 2026 at the Assam Regimental Centre in Meghalaya by wearing traditional Assamese attire and paying tribute to her mother’s National Cadet Corps (NCC) achievements.
The 36-year-old actor spent three days with officers and jawans training Agniveers. On January 27, she shared images on Instagram of her outfit a black high-neck top with a grey full-sleeved blazer featuring double collars, notch lapels, and side pockets, paired with a red silk Assamese wrap skirt with intricate handwoven golden embroidery.
Bhumi pinned her mother Sumitra Pednekar’s NCC medals to her blazer, writing: “There couldn’t have been a better moment than this to wear my mother’s medals she won during her time in the @nccindiaofficial. @sumitrapednekar, you are my hero.” She highlighted a gold medal from her mother’s paratrooping days, noting that Sumitra was among the first women to achieve it by jumping from a plane and piloting one. The medals also commemorated her mother’s two Republic Day parade appearances. Bhumi recalled that women were not allowed in the Army at that time.
She completed her look with a black embroidered necklace in white, yellow, and red, multilayered red chains, and black pointy-toe heeled boots. Her makeup included winged eyeliner, mascara, blushed cheeks, highlighter, and nude lips, with soft wavy hair parted in the middle.
Reflecting on her visit, Bhumi wrote: “Their courage and service to the country have left me deeply inspired. My salute to all our officers, jawans, and every member of our armed forces.”
