Agartala, Jan 3: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has acknowledged the significant gap in the teacher-student ratio in the state and assured that the government is working to address the issue. Speaking at an event in Gomati district, Saha emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the quality of education in schools.

“There is a big gap between teachers and students in Tripura, and in many schools, there are no headmasters. We are constantly reviewing the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and are in discussions with the education and finance departments to overcome these shortages,” said Saha, who also holds the Education portfolio.

Saha also mentioned the transition from the West Bengal Board syllabus to the NCERT syllabus, which he believes will provide Tripura students an edge in national-level examinations. “The NCERT syllabus will better equip our students to compete at national and state levels,” he added.

The Chief Minister further highlighted the growth in higher education with six private universities now operating alongside Tripura University and MBB University, making the state an increasingly popular destination for students.

Additionally, Saha spoke about the government’s initiative to distribute 1.30 lakh bicycles to female students in Class IX to help them commute to school easily. “This is an important step in encouraging education for girls,” he said.
