BJP Appoints Lata Usendi as Tripura ADC Poll In-Charge; 321 Families Join Party at Rally

Agartala, April 04, 2026: As campaigning gathers momentum for the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, the Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed Lata Usendi, national vice-president of the party and MLA from Kondagaon, as election in-charge for the TTAADC polls.

Polling for the 28-member council is scheduled on April 12, with 25 of the seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes, intensifying political activity across Tripura’s tribal belt.

Marking the beginning of her campaign responsibilities, Usendi led a large foot march and public rally in support of BJP candidate Amar Jamatia in the 20-Killa Bagma constituency. The programme witnessed a substantial turnout of party supporters and local residents.

Addressing the gathering, BJP leaders highlighted development and welfare as the party’s principal campaign themes and appealed to voters to extend support to the party in the upcoming council elections.

Among those present on the dais were Sameer Oraon, national president of BJP ST Morcha, regional MLA Rampada Jamatia, Tuton Das and other senior party functionaries.

During the rally, party leaders referred to ongoing development initiatives in the state and said the BJP remained committed to strengthening grassroots governance in tribal areas.

In a significant political development, 321 families from different opposition parties joined the BJP after the public meeting. According to party leaders, the new entrants said they were influenced by the pace of development carried out under the present government.

With the council elections approaching, campaign activities by major political parties are expected to intensify further across the autonomous district areas in the coming days.
