Agartala, March 23, 2026: With two crucial elections approaching in Tripura, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has constituted two 15-member committees to oversee preparations for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) polls and the Dharmanagar by-election.
The TTAADC election will be held on April 12, with counting scheduled for April 17. The Dharmanagar by-poll is set for April 9.
According to office orders issued by BJP General Secretary Amit Rakshit, senior leaders including Ministers Tinku Roy, Sushanta Chowdhury, Bikas Debbarma, Santana Chakma, former MP Rebati Tripura, and ST Morcha President Parimal Debbarma will play key roles in the TTAADC campaign. Another committee features Minister Sudhangshu Das, Vice President Tapas Bhattacharya, MLA Bhagaban Das, and other state leaders.
Tripura BJP President Rajib Bhattacharjee chaired a meeting today at the party office to strategize for the district council polls. Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the meeting discussed “various organizational issues in detail” ahead of the elections.
Party sources indicated that a core committee meeting will be held tomorrow to finalize the candidate list for the TTAADC polls, which will be announced thereafter.
