Agartala, December 15, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday reaffirmed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) draws its real strength from Pristha Pramukhs and grassroots-level workers, asserting that unwavering trust in organisational leadership continues to fortify the party across the state.
Dr. Saha was addressing the Pristha Pramukh Sammelan of Mohanpur Mandal, held at the Mohanpur Class XII School ground. He credited local MLA and Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath as the key force behind organising the programme.
Speaking to party workers, the Chief Minister underlined the BJP’s distinct political culture. “Our party is different from others. We do not believe in projecting ourselves as ideological elites. We are ordinary people who trust the common man. I prefer to live and walk like a normal person and never forget my roots,” he said, taking a veiled dig at the Communist Party.
Sharing his political journey, Dr. Saha recalled his early days in the BJP. “After joining the party, I worked as a pracharak and later handled responsibilities such as Pristha Pramukh and membership in-charge. Once, I said I could enroll three lakh members, without much idea. Eventually, the BJP enrolled nearly seven lakh members in the state,” he said, highlighting the organisational growth driven by grassroots efforts.
The Chief Minister also alleged that communists do not truly uphold democratic values, despite speaking in its name.
Addressing the gathering, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath stressed that organisational strength, development, and public connect are vital for electoral success. “A survey conducted ahead of the Sammelan shows that if elections were held today, the BJP would emerge victorious in the Mohanpur Assembly constituency,” he claimed, urging Pristha Pramukhs to attract more voters from rival parties. He described Pristha Pramukhs as “the pillars and foundation of the party.”
Later, MP and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb launched a sharp attack on the CPIM, questioning its long tenure. “They ruled for 32 years, but what did they do for women and youth? They ruined the state,” he alleged, also accusing the CPIM and Congress of compromising principles and nurturing divisive politics.
The Sammelan concluded with a call to further strengthen the BJP’s grassroots network ahead of future electoral battles.
