In a series of coordinated efforts, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya, in collaboration with local law enforcement, has successfully apprehended multiple individuals near the international border in separate incidents. This underscores the force’s vigilance along the India-Bangladesh boundary.
In the first operation, the 4 Bn BSF detained four Bangladeshi nationals and three Indian nationals in the Dawki area of East Khasi Hills district. The detained individuals include Shorobindu Biswas (37, BD), Royal Talukder (17, BD), Rony Lamin (34, BD), Kausalla Talukdar (33, BD), Shankhor Saha (46, Indian national), Ronbir Saha (9, Indian national), and Suna Lyngdoh (22, Indian national). Preliminary investigations revealed that these individuals had crossed the border in hopes of traveling to Assam for employment.
In a separate incident near Baldamgiri Tinali, also known as the Tri-Junction in the South West Garo Hills, BSF troops apprehended seven Bangladeshi nationals, including Amir Ali (35), Mir Jahan (45), Biplob Mia (35), Angur Hussain (20), Chand Mia (32), Rasel Mia (32), and MD Bakul Mia (35), all residents of Kurigram District, Bangladesh.
Further inquiries disclosed that three Bangladeshi nationals had entered India with intentions of finding employment in Assam, while three Indian nationals had ventured into Bangladesh to visit relatives. A Bangladeshi national identified as a tout had facilitated transportation arrangements for these individuals.
The BSF’s intensified operations reflect a strong commitment to border security and controlling unauthorized crossings. Collaborative efforts between the BSF and Meghalaya Police play a critical role in ensuring safety and curbing illegal activities along the border.
