Agartala, January 28, 2026: In a significant development for healthcare in Tripura, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has approved the construction of a state-of-the-art 50-bed Critical Care Block at Dhalai District Hospital.
The project, sanctioned under the Prime Minister–Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, will involve an investment of ₹23.75 crore, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha announced on social media.
The Chief Minister stated that the new facility will mark a “transformative change” in healthcare services across Dhalai. Once operational, the block will provide advanced treatment for trauma cases, cardiac ailments, and other critical conditions at the district level itself. This will reduce the need to refer patients to Agartala, offering much-needed relief to patients and their families.
According to Dr. Saha, the infrastructure will include modern ICU facilities, essential medical equipment, and deployment of trained healthcare professionals. He emphasized that the initiative will particularly benefit residents of remote and tribal-dominated areas of Dhalai, ensuring timely and quality medical care.
Expressing gratitude, the Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda for their “visionary leadership,” which, he said, is enabling modern and quality healthcare services to reach tribal regions like Tripura.
