Agartala, December 9, 2025: The Centre has approved 25 new road projects in Tripura to boost connectivity in Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) regions, the Ministry of Rural Development announced on Tuesday.

Sanctioned under the Road Connectivity component of PM-JANMAN, the projects will span a total length of 65.38 km with an estimated investment of ₹68.67 crore. Officials said the initiative aims to provide all-weather road access to 30 PVTG habitations across the state, enhancing mobility in remote and tribal belts.

According to the Ministry, the improved road network is expected to significantly uplift socio-economic conditions by facilitating better access to healthcare, education, markets, and essential public services. Connectivity gaps between far-flung villages and urban centres are likely to narrow, giving a push to local trade, employment generation, and overall economic activity.

The Ministry added that the move is in line with the Government of India’s broader vision of accelerating development in the Northeast and contributing to the goals of a ‘Viksit Bharat’.

It further stated that the PM-JANMAN road components are poised to have a transformative impact on PVTG areas, reinforcing the Centre’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development in the North-Eastern region.
