The classic Manipuri film Ishanou inaugurated the 18th Guwahati International Film Festival, marking a proud moment for Manipuri cinema on the national stage.

Globally acclaimed filmmaker Aribam Syam Sharma, director of the film, graced the occasion and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Gauhati Cine Club for its significant role in shaping his journey as a filmmaker.

Aribam Syam Sharma acknowledged the club for publishing his book in the late 1980s, which was later adapted into a film. He also fondly recalled his long-standing association with fellow filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts of the club, highlighting their contribution to the growth of meaningful cinema in the region.
