Agartala, December 25, 2025: Tripura has clinched the third position at the national-level Kala Utsav–2025 (Rashtriya Kala Utsav–2025), held at the Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA) in Pune, marking a significant cultural achievement for the state.

The five-day event, conducted from December 20 to 24, brought together student performers from across the country, providing a prestigious platform to showcase India’s diverse artistic traditions. Amid stiff competition, Tripura’s contingent drew wide appreciation for presenting the state’s rich folk heritage with finesse and authenticity.

The national third rank was secured by a team from Chandrapur Higher Secondary School in Gomati district. The troupe—comprising Shilpa Reang, Sanita Reang, Siluta Reang and Parmaiti Reang—captivated the audience and judges alike with their performance of the traditional Hojagiri folk dance.

Renowned for its demanding balance, control and rhythmic coordination, the Hojagiri presentation by the students was praised for its grace and cultural purity, ultimately earning Tripura a place on the national podium.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha congratulated the students and their mentors, describing the achievement as a moment of pride for the entire state. “Our students have once again brought laurels to Tripura. Their exceptional artistry and balance in the Hojagiri dance were truly worthy of national recognition. This success reflects the rich cultural tapestry of our state,” he said.

A senior state government official noted that the honour underscores the dedication of the young performers and the guidance of their teachers. “This recognition highlights the immense potential of our youth and the vibrant cultural ecosystem being nurtured in our schools,” the official added.
