Agartala, May 27, 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday formally launched the ambitious ‘Mission Queen Pineapple, Tripura’, a ₹236 crore project aimed at transforming the state’s renowned GI-tagged Queen Pineapple into a globally recognized brand.
The three-year project is being implemented under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India.
Dr. Saha joined the virtual launch programme from Sanchar Bhawan in New Delhi alongside Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Tripura Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath.
Highlighting the significance of the initiative, the Chief Minister said the project would strengthen processing infrastructure, create robust market linkages, and help establish Tripura’s Queen Pineapple in international markets.

“With our GI-tagged Queen Pineapple leading the way, this multi-pronged initiative will strengthen processing infrastructure, build robust market linkages, and elevate Tripura’s state fruit into a global brand,” Dr. Saha stated.
He further said the initiative aims to minimize yield gaps, expand export opportunities, accelerate rural economic growth, and significantly enhance farmers’ income across the state.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr. Saha said the Centre’s continued support and the Act East Policy have opened new avenues of growth and prosperity for the Northeastern region.
